Dearest December

A white bowl with bread salad in it

Santa baby...

a rapid flow of creativity...for me? Recently, I dove back into working on my own music. It has been exciting & it is very cool to look at an old projects from a new perspective. I am hoping to start releasing music again in 2023, but of course, feel the never ending pressure of it never sounding the way that it does in my head. The eternal creative struggle continues into another year, but I am so proud of my professional & creative growth over the past year. I hope you are proud of all you've been able to do this year too! And if you need gifts for sound-lovers in your life, I've got you covered...

This month I had the pleasure of speaking with Tom Dheere aka the VO Strategist about Picking a Microphone & Improving Your Work-From-Home Flow. We also did a Basic VO Audio AMA on his Youtube channel.

Best of the Month

I discovered Tape Notes Podcast half way through the month & was hooked. John Kennedy (host) reunites artists & producers to talk all things record making. I started listening to the episode featuring Lizzy McAlpine (amazing singer-songwriter who I have been following for half a decade now) & producer/engineer Philip Etherington. I am huge fans their collaboration & interested in their recording process. On the other side of this almost 2 hour long deep dive into Lizzy's album, Five Seconds Flat, I feel even more admiration for this duo & the music. Check out the full episode for yourself >>

This podcast opens the door into the studio and allows listener to hear stems, song stories, and early demos from each featured artist. These are the beautiful, wonderful, magical moments that I've gotten to experience while working on albums, but it is rare that you get it for projects outside the window of recording/mixing/production. This is so valuable for budding producers, musicians, or anyone who doesn't have the opportunity to sit in on sessions and understand what really goes into making an album. It's creatively stimulating, entertaining, and a must listen to for music fans.
